Asia markets dump sharply; Nikkei down 2.9%

On Wall Street, a Dow Jones industrial average sealed down 295.64 points, or 1.80 percent, during 16,153.54, while a SP 500 was down 36.35 points, or 1.87 percent, during 1,903.03. The Nasdaq composite slipped 103.42 points, or 2.24 percent, to 4,516.95.

In China, a Caixin Jan services purchasing managers’ index (PMI) is due.

It’s also a center of Asia’s gain season, with a series of important companies releasing their total after in a day, including Panasonic, Denso, Hitachi, Lenovo and South Korea’s Shinhan Financial Group.
