Calif. male on face transplant: ‘It’s critical to share my story to assistance enthuse others’

A 26-year-old male from Yuba City, California suggested his new face to a world Thursday after undergoing a life-changing facial transplant in Jun 2018.

Cameron Underwood was harmed by a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Jun 27, 2016. Over a subsequent year, he would bear several “conventional” surgeries to try to refurbish his face as he hid a damage to his cheeks, nose and mouth behind a medical mask.

“It was a low time in my life, and we all do things that are not, we know, ideal, though we get by it,” Underwood pronounced in a news conference in Jun 2017.

But Underwood’s mother, Beverly Bailey-Potter, found new wish after reading about Dr. Eduardo Rodriguez, chair of the Hansjörg Wyss Department of Plastic Surgery at NYU’s Langone Health, CNN reported

“We knew he was a usually chairman to whom we would trust Cameron’s life,” Bailey-Potter said in a statement Thursday. “We were peaceful to transport a prolonged distance.”
