Bailey is a lead researcher on Kelly’s year in space with regards to DNA. She says things got blown out of proportion.
“It wasn’t so most changes in a DNA, it was changes in gene expressions so a tangible proteins that get voiced from those changes. There’s always a lot of movement in gene expression. Endurance exercise, for example, can change gene countenance and that can change each day for all of us,” Bailey said.
Seven percent of those gene expressions didn’t lapse to normal after Kelly returned to earth, though that investigate was put out by Bailey and her group some-more than a year ago.
“The things that did change, a lot of it went behind to normal. That’s unequivocally good news,” a associate highbrow during a Department of Environmental and Radiological Sciences during CSU said.
Bailey says her research, and 9 other studies, aren’t finalized nonetheless and should be expelled from NASA after this year.
“It’s unequivocally only a commencement of anticipating out what space moody does to people,” she said. “We’re still perplexing to figure out what that means and what caused it and if there’s any kind of long-term health risk compared with that.”
