For years, the Skokie Chamber of Commerce has set its sights on sponsoring a public international trip that might also lend itself to promoting Skokie well beyond its own borders, said Chamber Executive Director Howard Meyer.
The Chamber’s first such trip will be a busy 10-day odyssey to Thailand and Hong Kong with a departure date of Sept. 15. An informational reception on the trip is scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. May 24 in the business center on the second floor of the Skokie Public Library, 5215 Oakton St.
The Chamber is sponsoring the trip alongside the Winnetka-Northfield Chamber of Commerce.
“Doing overseas trips has been a trend with chambers of commerce for some years now,” Meyer said. “Several of my colleagues have done trips to China, South America and they’ve been received well there.”
