Self-avowed extremist James Jackson pleaded guilty Wednesday morning to murdering a black male with a sword in 2017, partial of his plan to stop interracial relations and demonstrate his loathing for black people.
Authorities described a hideous murder of Timothy Caughman, 66, as a hatred crime.
Jackson killed a homeless male while Caughman was collecting bottles for recycling. Caughman is remembered as a kind neighbor and “gentleman,” according to a Associated Press. He went to a military hire after he was pounded before failing in a hospital.
Jackson, who now faces life in prison, was 28 when he trafficked from Baltimore to New York City to act. He chose New York since it is a “media capitol of a world” and for a multicultural history, according to authorities.
“James Jackson prowled a streets of New York for 3 days in hunt of a black chairman to murder in sequence to launch a debate of terrorism opposite a Manhattan village and a values we celebrate,” a district attorney, Cyrus R. Vance, wrote when he announced a charges in 2017.
Though Jackson incited himself in to authorities, he called a murdering a “practice run” in a 2017 interview. He told authorities he hated black group for during slightest a decade, yet he did not meant to kill an aged man. He was perplexing to kill “a immature thug” or “a successful comparison black male with blondes … people we see in Midtown. These younger guys that put white girls on a wrong path.”
Jackson will face sentencing on Feb. 13 for his guilty defence to murder charges, a Associated Press reported.
Vance tweeted Wednesday that ” this won’t move behind Timothy Caughman, a dear NYer who was executed for being black.” But he concurred that a latest growth in a box was “the loudest summary that a polite multitude can send to would-be terrorists.”
Jackson is a maestro from Baltimore who served in Afghanistan. He formerly told a New York Daily News that he was lifted by “typical liberal” parents, yet he rejected multiculturalism.
Jackson also told a journal he review a website a Daily Stormer, that South Carolina church gunman Dylann Roof, who was sentenced to genocide for murdering 9 black people during a bible study in 2015, also read.
