DAVENPORT, Iowa– Two families joined by one heart.
An Ohio male who perceived a heart transplant during a Cleveland Clinic done a special to Iowa to contend appreciate we to a family of a donor.
Ken Vogelson, 45, of Defiance, spent 8 years fighting a on-going heart disease, that had already claimed a life of his brother. His doctors pronounced he perceived a new organ only in time.
After his transplant medicine in January, Vogelson exchanged letters with a donor’s mother, Lisa Bragg.
“I due her a large appreciate we and told her a magnetism we had for her loss. It was tough meaningful that somebody had to remove in sequence for me to gain,” Vogelson said.
Bragg’s son, Markus, died suddenly on Jan. 19. He was 27 years old.
“He wouldn’t wish it any other way. That’s only how he was. He would give his final to anybody. He would go out of his approach to assistance anybody. This is what he would want, to assistance others. That’s who he was,” Bragg said.
Vogelson and Bragg met on Friday in a participation of a paramedics, who attempted to save Markus.
According to Lifebanc, Vogelsong is one of scarcely 1,170 Ohioans whose life was saved by organ concession in 2018. There are some-more than 3,000 people still watchful for an organ.
